Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Miami Boll Weevils take on the Cornwall Royals.

Miami left-hander Joe Brown helped his team edge Cornwall by the score of 2-1. Brown kept the opposing lineup in check. Jerrod Notaro picked up the win in relief for Miami, while Stuart Taylor took the loss.

Miami took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, David Reed hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Boll Weevils.

"I thought Joe threw the ball well across the board," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.

Miami has now won 4 in a row.
