The Miami Boll Weevils scooted past the Cornwall Royals, 6-5, at Ballpark of Miami. Miami pitcher Matt Simpson, in particular, performed like a star. Brent Kuest was the winner in relief. His record is now 8-2. The losing pitcher was Manuel Esquivel. The 5th-place Royals now sit at 42-72.

Jamie Tripp went 1-4 with a walk for Miami. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Manuel Esquivel. It was his 31st walk of the season.

"They beat us fair and square," Cornwall skipper Ivan Cabrera said.
