Sea Turtles Edge Past Fire, 2-1
Leatherback Park was the site of some high drama.

In a low-scoring contest between the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles and the San Francisco Fire, Alan Champagne, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, proved to be the difference. The Daytona Beach right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Sea Turtles win. Daytona Beach reliever Brian Hennick picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jon Messer absorbed the loss.

The Sea Turtles got a clutch hit from third baseman Ross Dorough. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Sea Turtles.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Champagne said.

At 34-41, Daytona Beach is in last place in the National Conference South Division.
