The Charleston Sea Dogs knocked off the San Diego Fleet, 5-3, at Ballpark of Charleston. Tim Hutchison was a big reason Charleston won. The first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jonathan Brey, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The Sea Dogs saw their win-loss record go to 42-33. At the same time, the Fleet fell to 42-33.

The Fleet had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Sea Dogs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Russ Reinertsen came to the plate. Reinertsen hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 fastball from San Diego hurler Travis Erb. It was Reinertsen's 11th double of the year.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Charleston manager Sang-ton Che.
