The Cornwall Royals beat the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 5-1, at Ballpark of Stockton. Adam Mathis, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. The Western AA Central Division-leading Royals are 72-43.

Frank Babb had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the top of the sixth inning. With Cornwall leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Barncord and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Royals on top, 4-1.

Cornwall manager Jon Williams praised his team's "businesslike approach."
