Down to Defeat Goes Miami, 5-1
|
The Cornwall Royals cut down the Miami Boll Weevils by the score of 5-1, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Felipe Marquez. Marquez went 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Royals. Cornwall pitcher Jamie Green got the win. He's now 2-0. Brett Emma was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Royals at 66-45, while the Boll Weevils drop to 53-58.
Jaime Tate had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. With Cornwall trailing 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Brett Emma and swatted a home run to left. It was his 18th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 2-1.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Tate.
