Boll Weevils Drop Firecats, 2-1

In a tight affair between the Miami Boll Weevils and the Hialeah Firecats, pitcher Gerardo Matute was in the zone. The Miami right-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. Matute picked up the win for Miami, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-4. Dave Vondrasek recorded his 9th save for Miami.
Jamie Tripp dealt the Firecats a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Miami trailing 1-0, Tripp hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Matute.
At 43-69, Miami is in 4th place in the Western AA Coastal Division.
