6-5 Win Takes Scorpions to 63-50
|
The Sonoma Scorpions beat the Vermont Milkmen, 6-5, at Emeralds Ballpark. Sonoma center fielder Rafael Rodriguez had the hot bat. He was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dan Toigo got the win, improving to 6-10. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 0 and walking 4. Jason Burget closed the game out for Sonoma, earning his 25th save.
Sonoma used a well-timed hit by Mike Lynn to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 6-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Sonoma manager Keith Young was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
The win for the Scorpions raised their record to 63-50.
