Capitols Handle Miami, Snag 3-2 Win
|
The Augusta Capitols knocked off the Miami Boll Weevils, 3-2, in Western AA action at Ballpark of Miami. Augusta pitcher and Killeen, Texas, native Ben Calder had an outstanding performance. Calder picked up the win for Augusta, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 13-4. Jeff Cox got the save, his 32nd in 37 chances.
Eric Carpenter had a direct impact on the outcome. Carpenter contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Augusta up, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Augusta manager Chris Clarke. "It's usually not just one thing."
The losing streak for Miami has now reached 4 games.
