Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Detroit Giants and Phoenix Gladiators.

Phoenix got a decent performance from pitcher Mike Walsh, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Giants. Detroit won the Gladiators Ballpark contest, 7-3. Walsh threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Detroit reliever Tony Gutierrez picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Carlos Abarca was tagged with the loss.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Cameron Witt to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We took home the win," said Witt. "What's not to like?"

Detroit is third in the American Conference North East Division with a record of 38-37.
