Firecats Solve Royals, 6-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Hialeah Firecats and Cornwall Royals.
The Hialeah Firecats weathered an outstanding game by Cornwall right fielder Danny Aleman to topple the Royals, 6-4. Aleman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Casey Higgins, the winner, is now 5-10. He struck out 5 and walked 3 over 5.1 innings, while allowing 1 run on 3 hits.
The Firecats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jon Mena. For the game, Mena went 2-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Hialeah a 2-0 lead.
"Pleased with the effort and the win," said Firecats manager John Costa.
Despite the win, the Firecats have a lousy 34-75 record.
