Pitcher Greg Amos was rock solid in helping the Sonoma Scorpions beat the Augusta Capitols, 9-1. Amos yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. The Scorpions lead the Western AA Coastal Division by a game.

Bryan Sheary had a big grand slam home run for the Scorpions in the bottom of the third inning. With Sonoma leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Paul Williamson and swatted a home run to right. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scorpions ahead, 7-0.

"Greg was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Sonoma manager Keith Young.
