Behind the hitting of Ryan Willin, the Sonoma Scorpions stopped the Hialeah Firecats, 5-4. Willin went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Scorpions. Cory Newton earned the save for Sonoma, his 26th. The win for the Scorpions lifted their record to 59-50.

Sonoma used the timely hitting of Bill Hoeltke to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I was a little disappointed," said Hialeah manager John Costa. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
