The Hialeah Firecats topped the Cornwall Royals, 4-3, with designated hitter Scott Justin playing a big role. Justin went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Firecats in the win. Austin Howell earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 5-2. Corey Baker notched his 5th save in 5 chances.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hialeah first baseman Seth Kaufman put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 3rd home run of the year. Cornwall pitcher Eduardo Garcia served it up. Just like that, the Firecats were ahead, 4-3.
"We'll savor this win," Kaufman told the Hialeah Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
