Bombardiers Get Hard-Earned Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cincinnati Bombardiers and the Miami Boll Weevils, pitcher Jose Perez was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cincinnati right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Bombardiers win. The winner was Perez. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Mike Brandon. Nate Ray earned the save for Cincinnati, his 13th.
John Mahoney came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We've got to get out of this funk," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
The losing streak for Miami has now reached 7 games.
