Boll Weevils Earn Late 5-4 Win
|
Vermont got a decent performance from pitcher Vinny Padilla, but it wasn't enough to beat the Miami Boll Weevils. Miami won the Emeralds Ballpark contest, 5-4. Padilla threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Miami's record now stands at 48-58, placing them 5th in the Western AA Coastal Division.
Miami needed the clutch hitting of Bryan Power to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Boll Weevils on top, 5-4. For the game, Power had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Power told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
