The Augusta Capitols overcame a good performance by Vermont first baseman Craig Kelley to knock off Vermont, 8-7, in 11 innings at The Capitol Dome. Kelley was 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Travis Jessie in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Manuel Angloma took the loss. By defeating Vermont, the second-place Capitols improved to 58-47.

The Capitols relied on pinch hitter Derek Vance for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We kept coming at guys," Augusta manager Joel Braddock said. "We kept digging."
