Kaufman Leads Royals to Win
|
The Cornwall Royals downed the Hamilton Bulldogs, 6-5. The hitting star was right fielder Jim Kaufman. Kaufman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Royals. Dave Barncord picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 7-3. Dave Combs suffered the loss. Chris Porter, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 26th save.
Cornwall took the lead on Kaufman's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which came against Dave Combs in the top of the eighth, made the score 6-5, Cornwall.
"Whenever you can come through for your ball club, it's a great thing," said Kaufman.
Cornwall is third in the Western AA Coastal Division with a record of 52-53.
