The Halifax Heathens topped the Sandusky Seagulls by a score of 10-6. Leading the way was center fielder Juan Gonzalez. Gonzalez went 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Heathens. Jack Ivory, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-4. Halifax is now 46-28, 3½ games up in the American Conference South Division.
The Seagulls had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Heathens going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Eric Kukowski came to the plate. Kukowski hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 changeup from Sandusky hurler Travis Gross. It was Kukowski's 14th double of the year.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Gonzalez said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
