Cavalry Pop Milkmen, 9-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the St. Louis Cavalry and Vermont Milkmen.
The St. Louis Cavalry powered past the Vermont Milkmen, 9-1, at Emeralds Ballpark. Brent Hauke went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, to lead the charge. John Bonnell, the winning pitcher, is now 4-1. He went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3.
In the top of the first, St. Louis first baseman Juan Leyva had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Vermont hurler Pat Wilber, Leyva grounded out, driving in 1 run. That made the score 2-0, St. Louis. For the day, Leyva drove in one run.
"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Mike Barriga.
St. Louis is last in the Western AA Central Division with a record of 36-68.
