Capitols Cuff Ragin Cajuns, 12-2
|
The first-place Augusta Capitols picked up another win.
With designated hitter Chris Wunderlich leading the charge, the Augusta Capitols defeated the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, 12-2, at The Capitol Dome. Wunderlich, who is tied for 7th in the W-AA in runs scored with 51, went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Nolan Estes got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Steve Banks had a big run-scoring triple for the Capitols in the bottom of the second inning. With Augusta leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Chris Gagarian, the 13th overall pick in the 2024 draft, and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Capitols ahead, 3-1.
Stockton manager Jeffrey Troke summed up his team's performance in one word: "Pitiful."
After today's action, Augusta sits at 62-41; Stockton slips to 64-39.
