|
Ballpark of Oklahoma City was the site of a competitive game between the London Tigers and Hialeah Firecats.
The Hialeah Firecats defeated the London Tigers, 5-3, in Western AA action at Ballpark of Oklahoma City. Hialeah pitcher Gerardo Matute had a standout performance. In 7.2 innings, Matute surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs.
Hialeah used the timely hitting of Juan Medrano to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firecats on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Medrano.
The Firecats now have a record of 34-70.
