The Charleston Shiners were almost helpless today in their 13-0 loss to the Boston Whistlers and hurler Antonio Higuera. Higuera kept the Shiners confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Higuera," Charleston manager Chad Hart said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 33-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Higuera said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To date this season Higuera sports a 10-3 mark with a 2.56 ERA in 15 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .203 batting average and has 119 strikeouts in 112.1 innings.
