The Carolina Crown beat the Austin Desperados, 11-4, at Reedy River Stadium. Carolina shortstop Willie West had an outstanding performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Carolina currently is in last place in the National Conference South Division at 30-43.

West contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Carolina in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, West took a cutter from J.R. Mitchell and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Crown to leap in front, 3-1.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Carolina manager Kyle Caito.
