Halifax Makes It 6 Straight with 6-4 Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Halifax Heathens and Oakland Invaders.
Orlando Contreras was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Oakland Invaders. The catcher was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Halifax Heathens. Jose Ojeda snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-0 on the season. Mike Walker suffered the loss. Jeff Buck earned the save for Halifax, his 24th of the year.
Contreras had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count changeup from Mike Walker, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Heathens a 6-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Contreras.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Heathens manager David Morris, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
Halifax leads the American Conference South Division by 3½ games.
