New York Wins, 6-3, Behind 2 Cardona Home Runs
|
The New York Nightmare defeated the Indianapolis Eagles, 6-3. Right Fielder Jesus Cardona deserved a large share of the credit. Cardona belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Nightmare. The winning pitcher was Allan Clemente. He's now 6-5. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits for the Nightmare. The 'W' lifts New York's record to 31-41.
Cardona contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for New York in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Cardona took a fastball from Jesse Walker and stroked the home run to left. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Nightmare to leap in front, 2-1.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
