Collins is a Smash Hit: 4 HR
|
Brian Collins victimized Etiwanda High School Eagles hurlers, smashing 4 home runs in a herculean effort that will go down in the ABA High School record books.
In an epic hitting spree at Gerald McQuiag Field, the Buford High School first baseman went downtown again and again, leading the Wolves to a win, 14-7. He went 4-for-4, drove in 6 runs and scored 5 times in the historic game.
"The first ones just happened," he said later, discussing the game. "However, that last time, I was swinging for the fences -- and WHAM -- I nailed it."
Brian Collins hit a solo-shot off Walter Bailey in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Walter Bailey in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Armstrong in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Abbott in the 7th and walked in a run in the 8th.
Thus far this season, Collins is hitting .305 with 13 home runs, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 105 at-bats and has played in 31 games.
