Late Offense Lifts Cincinnati to 3-1 Victory
|
Cincinnati beat Boston on the strength of starting pitcher Lee Morgan's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Morgan yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-5. Gordie Clifford collected his 25th save.
Chris Yost came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We've got a great group of guys," Yost said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Royals now own a record of 45-26.
