The Dallas Dragons could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Brad Bixby into a win. Instead, the Detroit Giants prevailed, 6-5. Bixby threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Picking up the save was three-time All-Star Devin Wickliffe. With the victory, the Giants upped their record to 42-29.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Glenn Valentine came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Dallas pitcher Mike Braasch, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 6-5.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Valentine.
