Crown Drop Mounties, 5-4
|
The Carolina Crown picked up a win at Reedy River Stadium, downing the Vancouver Mounties, 5-4. On the mound for Carolina was right-hander Steve Pikula, who played a pivotal role in the win. Mike Fisher got credit for the save for Carolina. It was his 12th of the year. The Crown raised their record to 28-42.
Ft. Worth, Texas-born Malachi Smith came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Crown trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Carolina on top.
"It was a good effort all around," said Smith.
