The Phoenix Gladiators got a sterling performance from pitcher Derrick Espinosa, but the Austin Desperados still prevailed, 5-4. Espinosa threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs. With the victory, the Desperados upped their record to 92-70.

Jared Priest was 1-4 for Austin. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Priest, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Phoenix hurler Ryan Robertson, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Desperados a 5-4 lead.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Priest told the Austin Citizen.
