Detroit Tacks 6-3 Loss on Fountain Hills
|
The Detroit Giants beat the Fountain Hills 23ers, 6-3. Detroit pitcher and Atlanta, Georgia, native Heath Maughn led the way. Maughn, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Lee Maher recorded the save, his 31st.
Chris Stivers hit a 2-run home run off Curtis Gring in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Giants ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, Stivers had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
Maughn called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Giants, at 76-86, sit in last place in the American Conference North East Division.
