The San Diego Fleet faced a tough opponent in Mexico City pitcher Eric Tate, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Peter Seidler Memorial Stadium by a final score of 4-2. Tate went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. The Fleet lead the National Conference West Division by 6 games.
Carlos Miranda, who finished 5th in the NC in home runs with 32 last year, helped out the San Diego cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Miranda said his team "played with focus."
