Reapers Deal Invaders 5-1 Defeat
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Carolina Reapers knocked off the Oakland Invaders, 5-1, in National Conference action at Howard Terminal. Carolina pitcher and Pembroke Pines, Florida, native Jimmy DeMoss had an outstanding performance. With this game in the books, Carolina is 71-90, Oakland 92-69.
The Invaders had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Reapers going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time Gold Glove Award winner Mike Green came to the plate. Green hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch slider from Oakland hurler Cody Fields. It was Green's 30th double of the year.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Green said.
