Joe Bernard, the first overall pick in the 2025 draft, was locked in. The right-hander led the Tampa Bay Captains to a 3-2 win against the Syracuse Scorpions at Ahoy Park. The winner was Tampa Bay reliever Mike Grotjohn, now 3-7. The loser was John Landgren. The win has Tampa Bay at 51-110.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Tampa Bay catcher Warren Sallee, facing John Landgren, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Captains the 3-2 win.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Sallee.
