The Boston Whistlers converted a terrific effort from starter Sam Naber into a win over the Cincinnati Royals at Whislters Park. The Whistlers won the game by a final score of 4-0. Naber yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-5. Boston is now 38-32, 3½ games up in the American Conference Central Division.

Jeff Beeson had a big 2-run home run for the Whistlers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Allen Anderson, who finished 4th in the NC in wins with 16 in 2019, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Whistlers on top, 4-0.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Naber told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
