Syracuse Topples Tampa Bay, 9-3
Tampa Bay second baseman Ricky Martinez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Martinez was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, even as Syracuse beat the Captains, 9-3. Dylan Diggs got credit for the win, improving to 9-11. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings. Ivan Medina earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.

Javier Tarango had a big 2-run double for the Scorpions in the bottom of the first inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jeremy Schroeter, who is tied for 9th in the AC with a 9.7 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scorpions ahead, 4-0.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Tarango told the Syracuse Daily.

With this game in the books, Syracuse is 78-83, Tampa Bay 62-99.
