Miami got a valiant performance from pitcher Max Hercules, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hialeah Firecats. Hialeah won the game, 3-2. Hercules threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winner was John Wright in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Zack Cunningham took the loss. The Firecats go to 31-69 with the win.

Greg Martel was the walk-off hero for Hialeah. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Firecats third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Firecats manager John Costa.
