The Hialeah Firecats beat the Miami Boll Weevils, 5-2. Hialeah pitcher and Decatur, Alabama, native Gerardo Matute led the way. Darius Timmons earned the save, his 4th in 4 tries. With the win, the Firecats are 30-69.

Hialeah took a 4-2 lead on Steve Thomas's 22nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Thomas hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Miami pitcher Jesse Tackett visibly frustrated.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Thomas. "And not try to do too much."
