Pierce Helps Philadelphia Cruise to 12-3 Win
The Philadelphia Marauders defeated the Phoenix Gladiators, 12-3, at Marauders Ballpark. Leading the charge for Philadelphia was left fielder Danny Pierce. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Scott White, the winner, improved to 3-3. He held the Gladiators to 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Corey Gruver was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

Mark LeFevre had a big 2-run double for the Marauders in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Rob Alvarez, who is tied for 7th in the AC with a 3.26 ERA, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marauders ahead, 4-3.

"We were able to put some runs on the board," said LeFevre after the game.

The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 43-27.
