Desperados Win at Home, 5-3

The Austin Desperados locked up a win at Dell Diamond, knocking off the New York Nightmare, 5-3. On the mound for Austin was left-hander Felipe Moreno. He played a major role in the triumph. Roberto Salazar was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 26 save opportunities. The victory gives Austin a record of 40-30.
Jimmy Sholl had a big 2-run home run for the Desperados in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Austin leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Contreras and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Desperados on top, 4-1.
"We were the better team," crowed Sholl.
