Victory Takes Sea Turtles to 38-31
|
The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles scored a tight, 5-4 win versus the Hollywood Stars at Leatherback Park. Daytona Beach pitcher Antonio Sanchez held his own in the contest. Sanchez got the win, improving to 8-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Picking up his 19th save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Adams.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the seventh. That's when Sea Turtles right fielder Russ Reinertsen hit a changeup from Jose Ceballos for a 2-run single. Just like that, Daytona Beach was up, 3-2.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Sanchez told the Daytona Beach Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
With the win, Daytona Beach goes to 38-31, while the Stars fall to 40-29.
