Stockton got a valiant performance from pitcher Chris Marquis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sonoma Scorpions. Sonoma won the game, 6-3. Marquis threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Jason Burget. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 4-1. Cory Newton picked up the save, his 22nd.

David Lovell came through with a big-time hit for Sonoma. The third baseman smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Lovell.

At 52-48, the Scorpions find themselves in second place in the Western AA Coastal Division.
