The Hialeah Firecats topped the Vail Tigercats, 5-3, in Western AA action at Firecats Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hialeah pitcher Chris Mueller. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Francisco Elizalde in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Brendon Conway took the loss. Humberto Lopez recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 14 for 14.

Tony Sylvester went 1 for 2 with a walk for Hialeah. The 22-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brendon Conway. It was his 43rd RBI of the season.

Mueller attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."

The win cannot erase the fact that Hialeah still has a disappointing 32-66 record.
