|
Sonoma ruined an otherwise fine effort from Mike Hammond by toppling Miami, 3-0. The Miami pitcher threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Sonoma is sitting pretty at 65-31.
Sonoma won the game in part because of Mike Maynard. The shortstop ripped a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 1-0. For the game, Maynard had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Miami manager Bill Murtha. "That's not going to work out."
