Milkmen Hang 6-1 Loss on Boll Weevils
|
Taiju Kusanagi was instrumental in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Miami Boll Weevils. The catcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Vermont Milkmen. Dusty Thomas, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Jimmy Martinez got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Vermont took a 6-1 lead on Kusanagi's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Dave Vondrasek in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Vermont to the win.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Vermont manager Mike Barriga.
The third-place Milkmen are 41-56.
