The rain came, as predicted, but the Sonoma Scorpions and Miami Boll Weevils were able to complete their ballgame.

Despite a great performance by Miami left fielder Jeremy Beck, the Sonoma Scorpions defeated the Boll Weevils by the score of 6-5 at Ballpark of Miami. Beck was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Sonoma reliever Matt Schmidt picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Dave Vondrasek was saddled with the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Rob Lindauer came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Miami pitcher Dave Vondrasek, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sonoma on top, 6-5.

"We ground out the win," said Lindauer. "That's all that matters."

The Scorpions lead the Western AA Coastal Division by a game.
