Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Sonoma Scorpions and Miami Boll Weevils.
The Sonoma Scorpions faced a tough opponent in Miami pitcher Joe Underwood, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Miami by a final score of 2-1. Underwood went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Jon Kwait earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The save went to Jason Burget, his 21st this season.
Sonoma needed the clutch hitting of Eric Bradstreet to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 2-1. For the game, Bradstreet had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Bradstreet.
Sonoma has now won 4 in a row.
