The Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Sonoma Scorpions, 6-2, at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Hamilton first baseman Josh Fitzgerald had the hot bat. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hamilton reliever Tommy LaBiche picked up the win, while Willie Valdivia took the loss for Sonoma. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 58-40 with this latest triumph.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the top of the ninth. That's when Bulldogs pinch hitter Adrian Fekety hit a sinker from Willie Valdivia for a 2-run single. Just like that, Hamilton was up, 3-2.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Elias Nunez. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
