Acosta Belts 2 Homers in 7-0 Win
|
The London Tigers stifled the St. Louis Cavalry, 7-0, at Cavalry Ballpark. Andy Acosta, who is tied for 4th in the W-AA in stolen bases with 16, had his hitting cap on. He hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for London. Mike Banks, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held the Cavalry to no runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Luis Ramirez notched his 8th save in 8 chances.
London took a 2-0 lead on Ryan Swift's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Swift hit in the top of the seventh, left St. Louis pitcher Adam Appelbaum visibly frustrated.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said St. Louis manager Leo Medina.
London, at 67-29, sits in first place in the Western AA Central Division.
