The Fountain Hills 23ers beat the Austin Desperados, 5-1, at Fountain Park. Starting pitcher Miguel Leon was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Fountain Hills is now 31-37, while Austin is 37-31.

The Desperados had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the 23ers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Isaiah Mill came to the plate. Mill hit a solo home run on a 1-1 changeup from Austin hurler Matt Parsons. It was Mill's 10th home run of the year.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said 23ers manager Efren Nieman.
