The San Diego Fleet topped the Austin Desperados, 4-3, in National Conference action at San Diego Stadium. The standout performance belonged to San Diego pitcher and Concord, North Carolina, native Rodrigo Lemus. The winner was Nate Holyfield in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Luke Scrimger took the loss. Justin Pierce earned the save for San Diego, his 2nd of the year.

Had Luis Perales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Perales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Fleet.

Perales attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."

Austin, with the loss, is still a stout 5-2.
