Skidding Chiefs Lose 6th Straight
Dan Miller, who is tied for 4th in the NC in quality starts with 11, was locked in. The left-hander led the Maine Pines to a 2-1 win against the Santa Fe Chiefs at Hannaford Dome. The win went to Nick Calvache in relief, making him now 2-0. Mike McBeth took the loss for Santa Fe. The Chiefs, at 31-37, have lost 6 in a row.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, fan favorite Dustin Downing had a chance to be the hero. Santa Fe pitcher Mike McBeth wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Downing drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Pines had themselves a thrilling win.

"It was bedlam at the end," Downing said.
